Microbreweries: Ukiah is also home to award-winning pioneers of the microbrew world. Ukiah Brewing Company, located in the heart of Historic Downtown Ukiah, was the nation’s first certified organic brewpub. Mendocino Brewery, also located in Ukiah, opened the first brewpub in California in 1933. Nearby Anderson Valley Brewery embraces Bootling, the fun folk language native to the Anderson Valley.

Golf:  Ukiah is home to Mendocino County’s only 18-hole golf course, which overlooks the scenic valley and city. Founded in 1931, this municipal course offers sloping terrain, gorgeous views, and affordability. ukiahgolf.com

Disc Golf: We also have three challenging and well-marked 18-hole disc golf courses, located at Low Gap Park, Lake Mendocino, and Mendocino College. For more information and directions, call our Visitor Center at 707-467-5766.



Lake Mendocino:  Lake Mendocino is a popular destination for camping, water sports, fishing, hiking and swimming. For reservations and information, contact mendocinosites.com.



Cow Mountain: Cow Mountain Recreation Area is 52,000 acres of fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and off-roading opportunities. The terrain is rugged, consisting mostly of steep, chaparral-covered slopes with scattered stands of fir, pine and oak. Elevations range from 800 to 4,000 feet. The area offers beautiful views of Ukiah and Clear Lake, over 31 miles of stream, 13 wildlife reservoirs, and habitat for blacktail deer, bear, wild turkey, and other upland species.  Cow Mountain Website



Montgomery Woods:  Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve is one of the most impressive redwood groves in the world.  Well-marked trails follow Montgomery Creek upstream to five separate redwood groves that have never been logged.  Picnic tables and restrooms are available; bring your camera and relish the pristine silence that only a natural reserve like this can offer.  Montgomery Woods Website

Low Gap Park:  Low Gap Park offers something for everyone in the family—even the four-legged members. At this 80-acre park, you’ll find a skate park, public tennis courts, two playgrounds, a dog park, a disc golf park, multiple picnic areas, an archery range, and miles of scenic, well-marked hiking trails.

Grace Hudson Museum:  The Grace Hudson Museum and Sun House is an art, history and anthropology museum that features Western American art, California Indian cultures, and includes one of the world’s most impressive collections of Indian basketry.

City of 10,000 Buddhas:  This former mental hospital now houses as international Buddhist community, complete with a school, vegetarian restaurant, permanent residences, and the Jeweled Hall of 10,000 Buddhas hall, which actually houses 10,000 images of the Buddha.  cttbusa.org

​Art GalleriesArt Galleries:  Mendocino County is home to more artists per capita than any other county in the nation.  Be sure to check out the local talent in the Historic Downtown art galleries, including the ever-changing displays at the Corner Gallery.  artcenterukiah.org


Seabiscuit Ranch:  Just north of Ukiah is Ridgewood Ranch, former home of Seabiscuit. Take a tour of the historic barns and see Seabiscuit’s home and final resting place.  You may even meet some of his descendants! seabiscuitheritage.org

Historic Downtown Ukiah:  Ukiah’s Historic Downtown is the heart of this county seat.  With critically acclaimed restaurants, art galleries, and unique independent shops, there’s something for everyone.  downtownukiah.com


Farmer’s Market:  Ukiah’s local farmers created the first Certified Farmers’ Market in Mendocino County in 1977.  Although this Saturday morning marking is the largest in the county, it has a small and personal feeling in comparison to many markets in larger cities. With live music, local arts and crafts, and educational events, this is more than just a market!
